Last week we started studying Responsibility. It went along with my son's chosen topic- astronauts- since astronauts have to be carry a lot of responsibilities to be able to fly in space. Of course, my daughter wasn't interested at all in astronauts, so she decided to look into cooking...which tied in nicely with our responsibility theme in learning how to cook healthfully.
As it turned out, once my daughter realized that in space, you float, she was all excited about studying astronauts and decided to do more of that than the cooking topic. It was a really fun week of much jumping off of things, pretending to float instead of falling (and the kids trying to take pictures of each other in the air), eating "space food," and finding a few astronaut videos and tools online to understand just what it is like to do things like eat, drink, sleep, and even wash your hair in space. Pretty awesome!
